Congratulations: Tom Izzo

I wanted to take the time to congratulate Tom Izzo on his 400th career victory as a head coach.  Last night's victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers marked Izzo's 400th.

Tom is currently serving in his 17th year as Michigan State Spartans head coach for the men's basketball team.  He is currently the longest serving active big ten head coach.  Izzo's ability to mentor and develop basketball players has been among the best of coaches; he graduates 81% of players that complete eligibility.  Along with his outstanding ability to coach life into his players here are just some of the accomplishments Izzo has been achieved:
  • MSU's all-time winningest basketball coach
  • Four-time National Coach of the Year
  • 2000 NCAA National basketball Champion
  • 6 time Big Ten Conference Regular Season Champion ( 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2009, 2010)
  • 14 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances
  • 6 Final Four appearance (1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2009, 2010)
  • 2 National Championship Appearances (2000, 2009)
Statistically, Tom ranks among the best of currently active head coaches in basketball and continues to produce at elite levels.

Congrats Tom!

For real though: Izzo's the cream of the crop. No argument from me.
